Innovative utility-scale energy systems require government support, in order to achieve
commercial status. The research collaboration between Columbia Power Technologies and Oregon State University
has been successful on many fronts, including our efforts to secure continued support from a broad range of
agencies. The World Energy Council believes that there is a potential for a trillion dollar marine energy industry
and goverment support stimulates the investment necessary to help make this a reality. The potential for economic
development and the creation of a highly-trained marine energy workforce in the State of Oregon make this an intelligent
use of resources.
